vtec, rpm issues
when i bought my car it had a buddy club vcon vtec controller in it. i never touched it or messed with it at all. wasnt to worried about it. there is a **** that turns, and to my knowledge, all you would do is twist the **** and it would change when vtec would engage. and it didnt matter if you changed it while the car was on or not. this is all just to my knowledge of it though. i could be completely wrong. so vtec was engaging at about 6300 rpms. i finally decided that, that was lame and i just want it to crack at factory 5700 rpms. (btw, b18c1 with c5 internals and with p73 ecu i believe) so i pulled over the side of the road and with my car on, i adjusted the controller. after that my car would rev over 5k rpms. car would just cut out. like a/f is way off or something...but im not sure how, since i dont mess with those maps at all. when i got home, i just cut the wires to the controller, hoping this would solve my problem and vtec would engage at factory setting. once car was warm, i did a "pull" and it vtec engaged right around 5700 but kind of sputtered through out the rest of the powerband. after that it would no longer crack vtec at all and would not go above 5k rpms again. the wires i cut, i left plugged into the ecu wiring, thinking it wouldn't matter and just taped over them...
im looking for suggestions on what i should do.
is there something i need to wire back up from where i cut the wires by the ecu?
should i just re-wire the controller back in and **** with it until i get it back to how it was? lol
i tried searching for information. i got some, but over-all i would say i failed.
so any help, suggestions, w/e is greatly appreciated.
thanks!

open up ur ecu n see if it was chiped
if so it might have been tuned to run with the vtec kicking in at 6300 and u changed that configuration
i dont think it was tuned but with all the engine mods mayb it just runs better at 6300 vtec engaged than stock due to engine mods
remember certant conditions have to b met b4 vtec kicks in to do it job
