Its an LS motor Correct? B18b?

If your converting it to vtec, youd be making it Ls/ Vtec, Ls/Vtec Setups are known to be Unreliable, and lasting only 7000 miles or so,

But As long as you have a good base, it will last long,

The main things you would need are ECU,Wiring Harness, Gsr or b16 head,

Headgasket.. and if you wanna make it last, new ARP Head studs

If you want it to be a reliable as a stock motor, id suggest the following

New OEM LS (90-01) B18a/b head gasket
New OEM valve seals
GSR ARP head studs
New GSR/ITR water pump (P72)
New GSR/ITR timing belt (P72)
New GSR/ITR/96+ Bseries oil pump (P72)
Magnetic oil drain plug (important for break in)

Terrible mis-information. ls/vtec's are not known to be any more unreliable than any other honda engine that hasn't been assembled correctly. People build ls/vtec's that have lasted upwards of over 50k.

Plus, I just noticed you said the car is an 88, meaning you don't even have a B series in it right now, if unless it's swapped.

You can't swap the B series DOHC heads on the older D16 blocks
