it could be a number of things:

1) check your oil level... if you're .25 qt. short, then there won't be enough oil pressure to enable VTEC
2) check your VTEC solenoid, they have been known to burn out...
3) TCR valve (i think that's what it's called)
4) sometimes a spring in the oil pump goes....
that's all i can think of right now...

Actually you can be as much as 2+qts low on oil and VTEC will engage, found this out the hard way when I had my GS-R going around a corner with VTEC wailing, suddenly it drops off the big cam and the CE and oil light come on together! After wiping myself, I check the oil level and alas, it's not registering on the dipstick. I added 2 qts of Mobil 1 and it was back to normal on the level indicator, and both the CEL and oil lights went away, drove it for a bit and all was well. Moral of the story? Check your oil level!

VTec engages, i feel the extra pull also i hear it engage...but a little after it dies off not pulling no more...

soo oil pressure dropping when it engages could be one problem...

as far as i know oil pressure should be atleast 55 pounds(if you have an oil press. gauge)...mine dose the same thing when theres not enought oil...just my 2 cents..later
