vtec problem
ok i have GSR no check engine light or anything, intake, stock header and full greddy sp2 exhaust and phearable.net ECU, no leaks, my vtec works but doesnt bang hard and it sounds low and if im driving next to u and i step on it u wont hear anything.... only hear it a little from inside the car
what could be the problem? bad Vtec solenoid? harness?

1.test your sonenoid by un-plugging the solenoid wire and putting 12v to it from the battery. you should hear it click.
2.If thats good clean your solenoid filter.
3.if not good after that test the oil pressure at the head, get an oil pressure gauge and screw it into where you remove the 10mm bolt at the front of the head by the solenoid. let the engine warm up and hook up step1. bring the revs up to past 4k and give the solenoid power.
your oil pressure should read over 57psi.
also check that your oil pan/sump is not dented.

I am not sure about anyone else but my VTEC kicks in pretty hard. I don't know what "hard" means to everyone else but I do feel the change and hear it as well.
Then again, I have loud exhaust.
