Default vtec problem

im having a problem with my vtec engagement. its an lsvtec and its boosted. for the first few weeks the car ran great. as time went on, i started randomly throwing a code for my vtec pressure solenoid. now, when i get on it, once the tach reads around 5200 (vtec engagment) it starts to stumble.
just a few days ago, i removed the vtec pressure solenoid, disassembled it, cleaned it. i then reassembled it and took the car for a drive. it was great again and no cel. 3 days later, its back to do doing the same thing. is it possiblew that the vtec pressure solenoid just went bad? i checked my wiring and made sure there are no loose connections or frayed wires and all looks ship shape.
any suggestions or should i bite the bullet and buy a new one
