vtec problem?
hey all, i have a b18c engine. with forged pistons and rods, bored .020 over, new hg, the whole chabang. my problem is vtec makes the noise, but isnt making any power to show. its on the dyno, vtec engages where it is suppose to, but the powerband just falls flat on its face.
my question is, is it a possibility that the machinist took an oil orifice out and that would cause my problem? i'm thinkin maybe a control jet in the block or maybe the head?

VTEC wouldn't engage at all if there was an oil problem somewhere. I'd look for the problem elsewhere. What kind of engine management are you running, what kind of compression, and is it timed right?
It has to be a problem elsewhere. VTEC isn't something that can partially engage, or kind of engage, it's either on or it's off. It being on indicates that there's not a problem with any of the VTEC components. Either your particular setup just isn't going to make any top end power, or you have a problem elsewhere.
