Obviously you need to find out what the 22 code is first... You can go to nearly automotive store and pick up a repair manual and see what it is. Any brand should have it from Haynes, Chilton or whatever.....

When you reset the computer, naturally the code will go away, but it's still picking up variables (or lack of variables) from around your motor. It's doesn't want to cross over to VTEC if it doesn't know which fuel/air ratio give you without running rich as hell or make you detonate.... In my experience, Check Engine lights will usually come back on after you've restarted your car after driving with a bad sensor. However, it's possible that it would just come on while you're driving... If not, It doesn't mean it's not in a safe mode already.

Hope this helps... Please keep us updated...

code 22: VTEC pressure switch

so it's likely the pressure switch, a bad wire connection, or the VTEC solenoid valve

can it be a bad sensor and not even have the check engine light go on???

WICKEDII-i'm using the stock injectors of the prelude motor and using the injector resistor box, so when you changed the vtec solenoid, did you feel a big difference??? thanks

More than likely it is your VTEC solenoid

if i were you, i'd start with the most simple thing... check your oil... if your oil level is short on even a half quart, there won't be enough oil pressure to activate VTEC... check there first, and then work from there...

if it's the case that your oil level is fine, i can outline for you in detail the steps you would need to take to locate the problem... but i don't have the time this morning...

do dis check u'r oil pressure first before buying and sensor or switch
u'r pressure should be at idle 8-10psi and 3000rpm 50psi if u'r pressure is ok
then take out u'r plastic card and call up u'r dealership. then plug that sensor and switch and install a secondary oil line.....its like doing a lsvtec ......u'r not going to lose any oil pressure in this kind of setup. i did this on my h22 and i love it and in top of that i'm using a gsr ecu and u know that if u'r using gsr ecu on h22 u'll get a vteclsg on h22, but if u plug in a secondary oil line u can barely fill it.
hope dis helps

i know this question is beat but you need 55 p.s.i oil pressure to produce the wonder of vtec so if you have low oil pressure like from not having a oil change in a while or low oil it would prolly throe the code as oil pressure swich.

What is this VTEC thing? I just bought a B16 powered SiR and the engine seems to have uniform torque throughout, from idle to 6 or 7 thousand rpm. How do I tell if the VTEC is working or not?

Thanks

how about this
before you go spending 150$ on a new solenoid
pull off the filter between the solenoid and the head. clean it, dry it and try again.
thats what happened to me. vtec screams like a **** now.
