I have a code 9, 21, and 22. No Vtec. I wired the distributer directly to the ECU. There were two orange/blue wires (OBD1). Would hooking these up wrong cause this?

 

code 9 is crank position sensor i believe. code 21 is vtec solenoid and code 22 is vtec oil pressure. i might have those two backwards but vtec will not work with either of those codes present. your car shouldnt even be running right with the code 9.

 

It will still run with code 9 but you will be in limp mode, plus your other two VTEC codes, no there is no way you are going to be hitting VTEC. Why are you even trying to go that high with three codes?

How do I fix the code 9? The engine runs as if nothing was wrong with it, just no vtec.

 

Replace distributor.
