Default vtec manual engagement

Hi there ppl.is there any way to engage vtec when the engine isnt running as i want to test if piston to valve clearance in vtec is given..... My engine h23 buttom end with atr head type s pistons .....

Yes there is a couple ways to do this i believe. One is compressed air in rocker guide or some crap but i think but the best way to do it is to pull the rockers apart and stick a properly sized BB in between the rockers and the pin that locks them for vtec and then reassemble. Its like vtec is engaged all the time then you can check p2v in vtec. Usually done before assembling en engine and not in the car. Good luck!
