I think this thread should have been left at how they work, which was the question mind you, and not debate the worthiness of them

IMO the cost of the setup will scare off more people than the lack of understanding anyway

true, but there is always this thing called learnign which most people come to ht for...not just trouble shooting, and in the process they'll learn how vtec cams work also...yes it shouldnt have devidated to any ls/vtec ? but what can you do...all i do is try to help others understand my lgoci behind it all

it still makes more sense to build up the ls motor then to waste a vtec motor. Its like going down a one way street the wrong way. It does not make sense or cents

You can leave a B18C1/C5/B16/etc internally stock and rev pretty high - not true with the LS motor. Balancing and rod bolts will not solve this problem.

obviously you've never seen a good ls/vtec setup...not to be a grunt about it but a balanced ls/vtec will rev as high as a b18c no doubt! but imho why would you be revving anywhere's past 9 grand or so, unless you are running the vtec killer cams most powerbands drop off after 9000+
