Vtec hittin at 4500??

My freind just put a J-spec Gsr in his hatch and vtec hits at 4500 and isn't as strong/loud as mine when mine hits at 6000 anyone know whats up?

GSR's hit VTEC earlier than B16/B18C-R because they have more mid-range torque due to 2 stage IM.

more specifically your GSR's vtec kicks in at 4400 RPMs. on the intake mainfold, it has a set of secondary runners. at 5750RPM the secondary butterflys open up and thats what you feel/hear.

i could have sworn that vtec kicked in at 4400rpm and the butterflys opened up at 5200rpm.

okay let me rephrase this...his butterfly opens up at around 4500 and mine is 6000 and we both have GSR motors......he has the P72 that came with his clip

Maybe his secondary butterflys are not opening up correctly?.....
