vtec harness
i have a 92 prelude but i did an engine swap with a jspec h22. im using the original ecu harness and the vtec solenoid isnt even connected. what should i do? should i just replace the whole harness thats worth a thousand dollars, or is there some way that i can just create the connector my self?
Check your existing harness and see if there's any blanks in it. Blanks have little pieces of rubber to keep dirt/moisture out. Go to the junkyard and find a harness. Does not have to be from the same car. I literally pull the wires out, remove the blank, and reinsert the wires. Keeps the stock look and gets the job done. You need to get a soldering gun and heat shrink tubing to do a good job. I'd look for obd 1 plugs to get wires out of. Obd 0 cars will work too, but there older and more likely to break on you.
I have obd 1 plugs if you need them.

what do you mean? im using the harness that was already in my car. which doesnt have a vtec connector. so the vtec solenoid in the new engine isnt plugged in. i dont even have a connector that can go to it. which harness are you talking about? the harness to the ecu itself? how do i know any spot will be good? do i need to reprogram the ecu too? sorry to ask so many questions. but if you could be a little bit more specific please. thanks.

This plug is from a 92 acura vigor. All harnesses will look similar to this. This one has 1 blank. (bottom of connector)

These pins will replace the blank. You can get pins at the junkyard.
I had some more pics but the camera died. The same plug that goes to your iat sensor will fit the vtec solenoid. Get a plug and make it happen. To finish it up you'll need heat shrink tubing, soldering gun, and wire.
If it's necessary here's a link to depin the ecu plugs.

Not too familiar with h-series. Search or ask the prelude guys.
ok. i understand now. but where does the other pin go to? one goes to the vtec solenoid to the connector. but where does it go from there? i cant just create a pin from the solenoid to the ecu connector? there has to be a line that already exists there that leads to the ecu or something. what do i do about that?

To the ecu

You can do that too, but you will not have a quick disconnect fitting like all of the other sensors.

Maybe there is. If not, now you know how to create one.
