Default Vtec engaging later than usual?

Well recently my speedometer went out and was fixed due to a fuse and VSS sensor. Then I realized the VTEC kicks in later at around 5500-6000 on my jrsc gsr and has a tremendous lose in power. It feels like theres an anchor attached to my rear end. The car doesn't move and rpms move very slowly. Does anyone know what could be the cause?? Usually vtec hit at 4500 on the gsr I believe there are two points correct?? Car doesn't idle as rough as it use too as well. Help a fellow honda tech member out plz.
