I'm about to buy a prelude, i do not have too many friends with hondas/acuras. so i am willing to try out something new. When i test drive he car to make sure the vtec engages...will i feel it as i get into the upper RPMS? Will i fell the vtec engage or how exactly does it feel, ive never been in a car w/vtec. if this helps its a 5th gen prelude that i am looking for. Thanks

VTEC isn't a magical giant. You may feel a blurp in power when you get into the upper RPM when it does engage, but its not like a video game NITRO button.

contrary to what this guy said, you will definatly feel it and hear it and you will be amazed. when i first rode in a vtec equipped car i could do nothing but laugh in amazment. in my opinion, vtec is nothing like any other motor in any other car.

I have a 5th gen prelude also.. Best way to hear and feel it is to get on the highway in 3rd gear and keep on the gas, youll hear it after 5200 rpms..

vtec is what makes Honda such a pimp. look at any other manufacturer and see who uses variable valves timing...barely anybody on MASS production based cars ( i mean corrola, camry's, foci, etc). Lots of companies use VVT to get the additional power. HONDA IS GOD in my book.

Yes, you'll feel it... yes, you'll hear it
