Default Vtec controller help???

A friend of mine owns a 99 civic si, jackson supercharged, at 7psi. Custom fuel rails, and the whole nine. He just bought the vtec controller, but is having a hard time getting his timing right. The question is, for that gen, what is a good RPM to turn on the vtec at??? Considering he has a supercharger, which shouldn't need the low end power. Any suggestions would do...

take it to a dyno I know alot of people will say a certain number but everyones motor acts different. So just take it to your local dyno pay 100 dollars for a hour just tune the vtec and fuel and make a good horsepower gain.

Take it to a dyno and tune the A/F, but sometimes the VTEC is lowered about 100-200 increments. Also Honda is no dummy and usually stock is the best.

The best thing is dyno the car, you will be very happy after with the right tunning.

This may be true of stock, but when you are tossing in an extra 7 psi, almost half a bar, then you've got to be careful of your timing, so I was just wondering if anyone had already done this, and maybe they had already dynoed it to see. He doesn't want to spend the money on a dyno, when he could be saving for suspension you know??? Thanx anyway...

if he wants to do it right got to go to the dyno

usually the rule for vtec is you want to max out your lower cams before you switch to high cam profile. take any N/A race civic there vtec swtich points are like 7000 some even higher

stock cams?

if so, lower the vtec point and keep going lower till you find the best gain.

He has to take it to a dyno with a wideband, cause his fuel will be off and might run too lean.

Tell him to dyno before getting suspension.

What use is a suspension upgrade with a blown-up motor??
