Default Vtec contollers

I had a question if i was to get a simple vtec controller hooked up and my car was low on oil or over heating will vtec still engage since the vtec controller has to do with the solenoid and stuff please let me know..

that actually almost stumps me, but since more than likely it splices to the solenoid wire and gives it power when it see the rpm reached itself and not the ecu then it probably will still engage

i imagine it still would. my question is.. why would you want to be driving the **** out of your car, in the rpm range vtec engages, if the engine is low on oil or if you're overheating?
