vtec activation question??
i just picked up a used summit rpm activation switch for my y8 set-up, but i'm not fully understanding about this relay thing? is that another part i need? or? i did a search, but all of the pictures are messed up so if anyone has a pic of there set-up or can tell me what i have to do that'd be awesome.
I think the summit switch provides ground when it turns on so you use the ground signal to activate the relay.. There are 4(or 5) wires on a relay.. 2 of them are power and ground and the other 2 are pass through.. You supply 12 volts to the power side of the relay.... the ground side goes to the output of the summit switch.. Now when ever the summit switch turns on it will engauge the relay.. On the passthrough side, one goes to 12 volts and the other goes to the vtec noid..
If you take a pic of the relay and post it on here I can explain what wire goes where.. They are also numbered but I forget what number is what..

i guess m question more than anything is what the heck is a ground converter? is it a seperate part or is it just part of the summit controler? i have the summit part, but what is a ground converter? what do i have to do?
The summit part is one of the parts you need.. The other is a relay.. Thats it.. The summit part sends out a ground signal at an rpm that you set.. The relay just converts the ground signal output from the summit part into 12 volts +..
well i figured out the whole relay thing for the most part. but i'm having 1 problem on my diogram for my summit racing rpm switch. it shows me what all wires are for except for 1. the grey wire. am i to assume that it is the main power wire that goes to the batt.?
Unsure about that.. Call summit and ask them, they will be able to tell you.. If thats a summit switch dont forget to take the rpms you want the vtec to engauge at and cut it in half.. You have a 4 cylinder and not an 8..
