Default very weird problem, need help...

A friend of mine has a gsr in a crx, the install was very bad (weld in) and the motor sits pretty crooked. He has a reoccuring problem that his crank pulley bolt and flywheel bolts keep backing out. I tried to fix the crank pulley for him and installed it with a new key and bolt/washer, torqued down plenty hard with an impact gun and the thing still backed out while he was driving a week later and like I said his flywheel also keeps backing out. What is causing this? The motor being a little crooked or a bent/bad crank shaft? Or something else? Any input ideas appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

it might be caused by the vibration of the motor. is the motor welded to the car?

Is the slot on the crank for the key torn up? That will cause it to loosen up.

Okay, the motor isn't welded to the car just the upper tranny bracket was rewelded to the fram. They used the 94 gsr mounts instead of 90-93 teg so the motor sits bad.

The keyway slot is not screwd up as far as I can tell visually. Everything went together right. Even if the keyway is screwed up that wouldn't explain the flywheel bolts backing out in my mind.

I'm thinking the crank is screwed. Anyone else opinions/ideas?

So what's coming loose? The crank pulley or flywheel?

I wouldn't think that the engine sitting crooked would be the only cause of this. I'd think that there must be some excessive vibration going on somewhere. I say get the proper mounts & redo it so that the engine sits right, & go from there. If you don't like that idea, go with the previuosly recommended Loctite.
