Default very quick question on mishifts

lets say, you were traveling very fast in 4th gear then you want to shift to 5th but instead of 5th, you shifted into 3rd thus the car will nose-dive like when you're doing engine braking, i like to know, will it ALWAYS nose dive if you mishift from a high gear to a lower gear regardless of speed? thanks.

it depends on speed. IF your at high speeds and u down shift your car might "nosedive"

remember that the car can only travel as fast as the engine is letting the trans turn. the nose dive you feel is the wheels slowing down because the trans is only turning so fast. if it is wet out, it may actually slide.

Side note: if you mis-shift going very fast from 4th to 3rd, you also run the risk of over revving the engine, floating and bending valves.

i would try not to mishift like that too often...it couldn't be to good because like they said you could overrevv your engine and mess it up.

i'm asking this coz one time my friend was driving my turbocharged SiR for the 1st time and he floored it from every shift then when he shifted to 5th the rpm went up BUT he HAVEN'T step on the gas pedal yet. the car didn't nose dive or acted strange but i'm still worried about it that's why i like to know if it will nosedive when you mishifted at high speed like 120kph or not always, lets say the road is dry.

so for the record, if you misshift while traveling very fast the car will nosedive but if it's not fast enough it wont? yes or no?

I wouldn't worry so much bout tearing the from of the car up as much as tearing the tranny or motor up. Bumbers can be bought all day long from Certifit for $40, motors can't...
