Default Vehicle speed sensor code

I'm getting a #17 vehicle speed sensor code on an 88 CRX Si. Easy to replace? Expensive? Where is it? etc... Tried searching all the usual online OEM parts sites but I can't seem to find one in their inventories.
My Honda manual doesn't show location of the part although I know its somewhere on the back of the trans. Anyone else have this code come up?

You have a cable VSS, so it's one of a couple of possibilities:

1) The cable has come out of the tranny.
2) The cable has come loose from the speedometer.
3) The cable has broken.
4) The speedometer is bad.
5) The wiring from the cluster to the ECU has a short.

I think that's it...

I'd check things in that order. If your speedometer is working correctly, we can eliminate 1 through 4, leaving a short in the tranmission of the signal to the ECU. If your speedometer isn't working, replacing the cable isn't that bad, except it's a bitch to run it through the firewall - the place it goes through is right behind the center console I believe.

Thanks Eric! The speedo works perfectly. So, is their a new wire or something I have to buy from the dealer?
