Valves not seating right... HELP..
So I have a 99 b16 head . It's going on a 99 gsr block. I did my springs, retainers and valve seals (I used all Supertech) and I'm pretty sure I did a good job on the head. I used the tool from Ebay that everyone on here recomends. So I took it to a machine shop to get it milled and the guy at the shop told me the valves are not seating right on ALL cylinders. Do the valve seals need any special way to be changed.. I used a socket and a soft hammer to seat the valve seals all the way down.. Was it my fault or is this guy trying to herb me for some more money??
what are you talking about, the valve seals or your valves seating? you pritty much wreck every valve seal when removing. i just peel them and replace. if your talking about your valves seating they wont completely seat themselves when you put it all back together. just prop the head up and give each valve steam a tap with a soft mallet and dont worry about it and put it back together.

Valves that don't seal aren't going to be fixed by tapping them with a hammer.

If they move around when YOU hit them that means that the valve guides have to much play/clearence in them and need to be replaced.
The seating area of the valve and the seat is a highly percise machining operation it's not like jiggling the handle of a running toilet, period end of story.

i wouldn't go into too much detail fkned about precision machining on here(you're speaking another language to them)...there are probably only about 10 ppl on here who can sharpen a drill bit if that...if the valves dont seat put a bit of bluing on them and snap them back fast and hard to see your seating zone, then go to a good machine shop and get it done properly...
