I have this tool. Works well, but you need at least two people for it to work. And if the head is not attached to the engine, you need to clamp it down somehow.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Where did u buy this tool from? I ordered one from Northern Tool but it was on back order for 4 months(didn't have to pay) so then I won one from some punk from ebay but it hasn't got here thats been over a month ago. I need it bad. Sell me yours or point me in the right direction.....

Tool: #GA 318 Valve Keeper Tool from the Snap On Tools catalog, will I be able to use this as a Compressor also? How do you do it..

im curious what the little magnetic cylinder for? i just got my tool today and the instructions show just as it was explained above, hit with hammer with just the big part, then for install put two big pieces together and press(they have the guy using a hammer for the install too). but whats the little guy for(the biggest part is already magnetic to grab the keepers)?

If it's only 40 bucks and you are able to remove + INSTALL everything back on "with the head still on the car," I'm gonna pick one up.

I've used the other one above with the handle, etc. and it takes too long until you get the rythem going like someone said above...

I've used the red set (a couple pics above) already, but wondering if this one would be easier.

with the first tool : (SnapOn)
it i reall easy to get everything apart.
you take the fat part and set it on top of the retainers, hit it with a hammer. the magnet holds the keepers and the retainer pops off.pull the spring off. its really that easy.
diffculty is 2 out of 10 (cuz you gotta be able to swing a hammer )

installation is not as easy as removal, but its not "hard"
we put the new springs and retainer on, set the keepers in the hole.
you use the long skinny part of the tool. (with something supporting the valve from fallin through) you press STRAIGHT down with all your wieght (depending on how stiff the new springs are) . the thin part of the tool will smash the keepers down around the valve.
after we get done we go back over all of them and tap them with a hammer (using the tool of course) just to make sure.

*this was all done with the head off the car.

hope this helps someone
