Default Valve Seals Rotting?

Is it possible that valve seals could rot without seeing any oil for a period of about three years? These were brand new in bag valve seals installed about three years ago, and HAVE NOT had a drop of oil on them until last week. Is it possible that they could not be sealing properly against the valve stems and causing excessive oil to appear on top of the pistons on a fresh build? H22 with iron replacement sleeves, total seal full set with total seal top ring, je pistons. Just looking for any experiences with this. Have not gotten a chance to pull anything yet, just noticed this after first startup when pulling the plugs. I am going to pull in. and ex. mani's first, then go from there. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you sure the seals were installed correctly(intake seals on intake valves, exhaust on exhaust)?

more likely something wrong with those total seal rings.

Thats where I am drawing the question. Brand new full set, oil control rings are just like standard stock honda, je, wiseco(minus the wire ring in the wiseco set) rings. nothing special about those. Not my first build with this motor, that was 6 years ago or so. Been through a lot with it, never due to catastrophe. What is the chance that the OCR's ALL leak? I am thinking valve seals. At the time when I installed them, the head was suppose to go right back on within a few days. Never happened, car sold overnight basically, and setup has been waiting on a chassis since then. The reason I mention this, is because I got the valve seals from O'reilly's because honda was a week plus out on getting them for me. Bags were clearly labeled in. and ex. Just wondering if MAYBE wrong set. I am going to pull mani's tomorrow night and let you guys know. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.

I would not think the guides, considering they were not touched, are stock, and this head was fine before the valve seal change. Possibility though. Not ruling out anything.
