Default Valve Seals Question

sup guys...

this has been happening for more than a year now and its gotten worst. at 4K RPM, i begin to smell oil burning...no leaks...i dont know what color smoke come out...but i do know that at warm up, my white wall turns black due to black smoke...so i know im buirning oil, and i know its not piston ring becuase i have done a comp test...my mechanic friends tell me its valve seals so i search...

from searching i found lots of types of valve seals, valve stem seals...are these the same? which of these causes the oil to burn if one is not functioning?

please tell me which ones i will have to replace

thanks for your inputs...

Putting them on is easy, removing them its a bitch, I would get a machine shop to remove them and get your head bead blasted while you at it..

If you want to do it yourself you should get a Helms manual. They list in detail what needs to be done. Otherwise if you're not 100% sure how to do it, then get it done by a professional. You don't want to reinstall something improperly and risk damaging your engine.

You put the valve spring seats on and then put a valve into the head.. Then put a little oil on the valve seals rubber part and slide it down on the guide.. Hit it with a 10mm deepwell socket until its down all the way and your done..

if you take off the head you'll need a valve job, so if you don't have money, leave the head on and just replace the seals, then get a valve cover gasket set (w/ spark grommets)
