The procedure in the Honda service manual involves heating the head, something that would be easy to overdo, resulting in head warpage. There is a special tool from Honda as well, it is like a punch that fits in the guide, with a lip that sits on rim of the guide. Honda says to hit the guide down, towards the combustion chamber to break the carbon loose, then drive the guide out through the top. It would be very easy to ruin a head trying to change the guides if you don't know what you are doing.
