Default valve cover won't come off

well i was in my driveway today trying to get the valve cover off my car becuase i'm starting to pull the head off to put a new head gasket in.. there are 2 bolts that won't come off... i'm using my wrench and the nut will just spin in circles but won't come off or loosen.. it just continues to spin.. any suggestions on how to get this off before i push this car off a cliff...

Maybe your socket is too LARGE.

it seems that you have to pull and spin on the bolt at the same time. the threads aren't grabbing the metal to spin off.

Will a Dremel tool work?? I just used mine to cut through some metal bracing in my dash by the radio.

Is it a b-series valve cover?

If it is which two is it? The ones for the spark plug wire cover or the outside ones?

If you can see the nut spinning it sounds like the stud is stripped in the head.

Try this:
pull up on the valve cover while you try to loosen the nut

Usually Walmart, Home Depot, Sears... It is a cutting wheel, I believe w/ graphite reinforcement. It will be in an accessory pack, just gotta find the right one.
