Default Valve cover modification?

So i was at the track the other day and i was looking at a honda civic that was allmotor and noticed that there was some tubes coming off the valve cover that went into the exhaust system. My friend that was there with me said it was to help releive the pressure that built up in the head and there for you gained more hp. Is there any truth to this cause if there is why dont i see more of it?

Tis true. The exhaust creates a vaccuum in the motor, helping to seal the rings and reduce windage losses. You don't see it more because it's not exactly emissions friendly, pulling oil vapor into the exhaust. I'm sure plenty of posts will follow calling me full of ****, or spreading bs, so lets have it.

The one that goes to the intake doesn't create the kind of vaccuum the exhaust types do. You can actually have problems sealing the motor from air getting in with those systems, instead of oil getting out.

So is it a bad idea put a breather filter on the valve cover and cap off that port on the intake?

but the big v8 drag cars run vacuum on their blocks via lines coming from their valve covers to their exhaust.

yep im with drdisco69; the v8 boys have been doing this for loooong long years.
they sell kits at summit.
the fittings go into the exhaust at a certain angle(cant remember what), creating vaccum

45* with the end of the tube cut parallel to the exhaust flow.

Look at the instructions.
