VAFC problem - wtf a code?? - have had for 6months+
1st off sorry for the long post!! but ive searched and asked all over.. never seen this problem. and i know i can rely on others when i need help on here.
Sup guys - I know how to work the vafc, what all the settings, mean, how its hooked up, and I have haqd absolutely no problems at all with it for the past 6 motnhs and is a good value in my mind for the fuel settings.
Well heres the deal....
it started throwin code 22 just last week, which is vtec malfunction, an awesome code to have
Heres what its doing ... only occasional, not constantly it will hit an artificial revlimter (wtf>?) at around 6500/6700, always same spot no matter how occasional. I was like wtf, took the code - it was 22, i was like ok ****, so i took off the solenoid, cleaned teh **** outta it, and the metal gasket, even as far as cleaning out the pressure switch.
All good for a day.
Does same thing .... took it into Acura, because i have warranty... so i was like whatever we will try it. They told me the vafc plays with the electrical too much and messes it up, and they have seen this twice on cars coming in, so they didnt do anything.
I was like fine, i reset the ecu, went on my way. I was tuning it again on the highway trying to get a nice pull for a 5th gear pull, so i was messin around with the points at which the fuel was adjusting, and adjusting the fuel itself....
code again godamnit, hit revlimeter at 6500ish, wtf. I now noticed this has happened to throw a code, every single time I was engaging vtec in 4th or 5th gear. So i shutoff car ... started it up... code still there... hits vtec all the way through just fine...
Someone tell me wtf is goin on, i asked all my buddies, who for the most have a Vafc - but no clue.
help?

since the cel came one prior to your vafc installation..for sure it has to be the wiring..redo it..trust me its the wiring..if not its because you did not connect the blue wire which is the vtm wire.
did you hook up the vtec oil pressure wire? I didn't hook it up once and it would feel like it hit a rev, limit. My cluster wasn't hooked up at the time so I dont know what code it was throwing though. Good luck

Wow, did you even read the post? He had it for six (6) months running before it threw a CEL.
Anyway, when you installed it, did you connect the VTM wire? I was having a similar problem because my dumb *** didn't hook it up, and once I did it was fine.

i had this problem.
check your solderings. my VTEC splice became loose, and when jiggled would loose contact. so i would occasionally get a code 22 whenever i shifted because it would jerk the car enough to disconnect the wire.
my car ran fine for a year before this happened, so make sure all your connections are tight.

thanks guys ill check the wiring once i get home on thursday
edit -
I gave a guy who has done wiring for them numerous times, there is no VTM signal cuz its a 96 GSR, will scan in the VAFC handbook later, its h6-a - i do remember seeing a blue wire always hanging next to the ecu with electrical tape on it.

go to apexi's site..theres an update which says even though your car may say it doesnt have vtm signal..hooking that wire up will get rid of all codes..
