Default VAFC-II in a miata?

Alright, before y'all start flaming me, I know that I won't magically get vtec or some crap after installing it. My question is, will it work with the miata ecu just to control the fuel delivery and monitor stuff like rpm, IM pressure, etc? I would think that it would work if everything is wired up correctly, but will the vafc freak out when the vtec wiring isn't hooked up? Thanks

The 1.6L miata uses an on/off TPS setup fwiw. Now I've never used an AFC (or VAFC) but I've heard they need a variable TPS signal to work correctly?
