vacuum leak
It depends on how far timing is out.
Easiest way to check for vacuum leak is to have engine running and spray starter fluid around vacuum lines and connections, when engine revs increase you have found the leak. 94

Be careful using this method as any arc esp from the distrutor area will be fire time. I still like using a propane torch with concentrated tip works great for finding vaccum leaks
I have been using spray starter fluid to find vacuum leaks for a very long time and never a problem, although I have used a butane torch, [small torch I have that you plug a BIC lighter into] I did not find it as effective as the starter fluid, I have not tried with propane, I will try that next time, it would be cheap compared to starter fluid. 94
