Default V6 vs. I6

What makes the Inline 6 so much stronger then the V6? Just wondering... Is it the fact that the Crank is longer, there arn't to rods per lobe therefore its less stress on that one part? Or am I completely off?

V configuration is more convenient because its smaller and can fit into cars that are FWD. Inline configuration makes mad power like the supra turbo because all exhaust ports are on one side, which makes the turbo more efficient.

I don't think he's necessarily talking in terms of F/I.

Just in general......

I6 are sweet....GM just switched to an awesome one.

I remember reading somewhere that Inline 6s are naturally balanced well...

Probably has to do with all six cylinders pumping in the same plane.

Stronger? In what sense?

I-6 is smother and is prone to less vibration than the V6(http://www.e31.net/engines_e.html) but strength in terms of resistance to breakage due to power output is more dependent on materials and design of the individual components and thusly will very from manufacture to manufacture.

not sure, remember that japan has to produce cars under the 286 PS, that would come to roughly 296HP i think, how much is the mustang?

ahh the beauty of a 350Z

around $28k
LSD
V6 287hp, 274tq
95.5 Bore [Larger than the RB26DETT (Skyline motor)].
Makes the Bore/Stroke ratio also better than the RB26DETT.

You can buy 2 of these, for the price of an NSX.
I still love my opposing traction fwd Teg, but this would easily be my next car.

you've gotta shell out 30-32 for the LSD and the brembo brake track model

</TD></TR></TABLE> all very true, and i love the new Z's, but there is no way that any stock Z would go head to head against an R34.

inline 6's can produce more torque than v6's

One is NA the other is FI. I was comparing the geometry.
If the VQ35DE was a VQ35DETT, per lb of boost it would easily kill the RB26DETT in torque figures ..and it'll do it in less span of rpm.
