Default V-TEC CONTROLLER

When im racing my eg coupe and i rev high for a time my check engine light comes on. it doesn't affect the preformance, but it bothers the hell out of me. Also when my car is cold it fluctuates idle from 1500-1000 then it warms up and stops. Just wondering if anyone had this problem and if so what they did to fix it. thanx
