sticky throttle cable?
when i drive now and am just slightly stepping on the pedal keeping a constant speed, usually below 35mph my throttle cable sticks or something. i will be keeping light pressure on the pedal then let off a little and the caracts like i let off all the way real fast then when i step on it just a little i jerks like i stepped on it. it just started doing this 2 days ago. do you think it's my throttle cable? i looked at it under the hood and reved it while looking at it and it looked fine. whats up? oh and it doesn't get caught on the carpet as a friend thought it could have been
Only one way to find out...remove your throttle cable off of the throttle body and clean off the groove that the cable sits in and the cable itself with some carb cleaner. It's pretty simple and shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes.
It sounds like your throttle plate is sticking. Get some throttlebody/carb cleaner, and with the engine running and intake pipe removed from the throttle body, spray the cleaner inside the TB while opening/closing the throttle plate (you can do this by hand). Do not do this indoors (garage) as you will have quite a bit of smoke coming out of the tailpipe. Dont use the whole can, do it until the throttle plate opens and closes more smoothly (it's hard to explain)...I hope this helps! Later!
