Urgent LSVTEC Dowel Pin Problem...
Hi;
I'm doing an LSVTEC conversion, and I bought a set of full-race.com's lsvtec down pins, to avoid any machining.
Now the problem is that they are not a snug fit at all, they can wobble around in the holes.
Where are they supposed to go anyway? I tested them big side down in the LS block intake outer-most holes. The LS block also had space for them exhaust side inner holes. The only way they could fit big side up is on the outer most exhaust side holes (which wouldnt need headgasket modifying). All of these combinations had the pins wobbling bit.
Also, when testing them in the head, the pins didn't bottom out, rather just stopped at the "step" in the pin. When sitting in the block, the step was BELOW the deck surface, meaning they will definately move as there is NOTHING holding them even level.
I was planning on dropping my head at the machine shop today to get them to level the surface, and tap the oil hole so I can plug it, but should I also get them to enlargen the head ones and use my ls dowels or will the wobble be ok?
thanks

I experienced the same problem. I'm running the full-race kit w/ GE dowels. The full-race dowels are way to loose. Read the writeup in my sig for more info.
