Urgent help with clutch differences!!!!!!!!!!
can some one please tell my why the new exedy clucth disc is diff than the oem that came off the engine. i first thought i bought the wrong one. but according to clutchcityonline, i do infact have the correct one HCD015U for a 95 b16. i went to the dealer and compared the one that came off the engine with the correct replacement. and both new and old are identical. so what do i do? here is a pic. the top two are the stock disc both sides and the bottom is the exedy both sides. notice the spline height on the top (stock) is higher than the bottom (exedy). my mechanic says that it fits on the crank but the diff with the new one is gonna make it harder to put it in gear. please help
no two clutch disc's of diffrent manufactures will look alike. i have the same exedy clutch and it works fine
install it and enjoy..................also read the special attatched peice of paper included with the exedy clutch kit. it specifically addresses the fact that some of the honda/acura clutches may not let you shift into gear properly........and it explains how to fix that as well.
good luck......

i dont have that peice of paper anymore.
if you e-mail clutchcity online they should be able to scan you a copy or send you one.
it bassically said that there have been some cases of after installing the exedy clutch that it might be difficult to put the car into gear or difficult to shift gears. they offer a simple procedure to adjusting the clutch pedal to fix the problem.
on my car there was no adjustment needed it shifts fine.....

ok, first of all, you dont want to touch the disc surface like you are in the picture. the oils will mess it up and cause it to fail alot quicker. its not too late, just clean it with brake cleaner or somethin.
secondly, i found my papers for my exedy clutch. here's what it said:
"we have had some of out installers that encountered a problem when installing some of our clutches in honda/acura applications where it feels like the clutch is not releasing properly.
if the clutch release bearing is traveling too far, it can be pushed onto the hub of the clutch disc and push the disc onto the flywheel. the tranny cannot be shifted and the will feel like the clutch is not releasing.
the normal tendancy in this case is to adjust the linkage to get more release bearing travel, but this only makes the above situation worse.
if you feel that this may be happening, try VERY GRADUALLY letting up on the clutch pedal by about a couple inches while LIGHTLY trying to shift the tranny. if as you let up on the clutch pedal, you can easily shift, the the problem is not that you do not have enough release bearing travel, but that you have too much travel.
if your car is a late model that has a hydro tranny, then you will need to adjust the push rod on the clutch pedal. you will need to loosen the lock nut and turn the threaded section so as to shorten the push rod.the actual pedal travel will not change as there is a slot in the push rod and there is a spring holding the clutch pedal up against its stop. this will make for more free play at the top of the clutch pedal travel and a shorter release bearing travel. this should cure your problem.
if your car is the earlier model with a cable clutch system, you will need to adjust more free play into the system."
hope this helps, my typing isnt the best.
