Default unknown engine plug

there is a plug on my civic ('97 cx) that I cannot for the life of my find a place to plug into anything. It's doen by where the o2 sensor is, right now its dangling right by the o2 sensor, and it has 3 wires (rectangular shaped plug). Any ideas on what it goes to?

I searched the motor for a place to plug it into, and I can't find anything. Hopefull this will solve my bad idle problem.

did you get factory ac in your car? If not I have heard that some cars were already wired for ac hat did not come with it.

It was a CX, so no AC at all. The plug is dangling under the car right by where the o2 sensor drops into the downpipe

what I am trying to say is that some civics that did not come with ac standard were still wired for ac to be added as a factory option. I guess it was an attempt to not fabricate different harnesses for different models. Just like some cars came wired for vtec when they had a non-vtec engine. If you have a meter try to check for continuity between the plug and the place where the fuse would plug into your fusebox if the car did come with ac. I have seen something similar to this before. It might also be a plug to hook up a diagnostic machine. I have only heard of this but never actually seen this plug. it is my understanding that those plugs will usually have some sort of rubber plug to pretect it. Have you also looked at your tranny?

Does it come off of the engine harness or the body harness?

ckf smartguys (crankshaft fluctuation sensor) obd2/3...if you are running a 92-95 ecu...dont worry about it..if you are using a 96- ecu..then you need to use a 96- us oil pump/ckf sensor. b series ckf sensors have a two pin connector.. the civic uses a 3 pin connector..the 3rd pin on a civic is on for shielding..so dont use it..you can just snip it off...you wont need it...the color coding on a civic engine harness and a b series ckf sensor matches..so its a easy fix.
