Looks great but i need something universal, and i'm rebuilding a SOHC head to pass smog with. So i was wondering if that cheap *** one will work. Doing the rebuild this weekend.

I have a similar one to the H/F compressor you linked to that I got to use on an old push-rod motor I was working on. I didn't have much luck using it on my honda heads. There isn't much room (depending on which head of course). I use a deep-well socket and a hammer to remove them, and a rigged up, home made tool to put them back on.

Thats what I was also thinking with the h/f one, it looks wide and Im not sure if it would fit, maybe you could turn it 90 degrees and get it to work. OP if you end up buying it let us know how it works

what is this home made tool you talk about? the socket and hammer trick is what i use to remove the keepers. That method works like a champ. In the past i've used the huge clamp style valve compressor, on the heads with no issues at all. But now i need to get a tool for the weekend

I've had a machine shop use the hammer and socket idea in front of me to take the valves out of this 4g63 head I brought to them. They had to get me a new set of valves because they were all bent.

Don't use the hammer and socket idea if you like your engine.
