My new federal tyres have a tread wear rating of 220, the goodyear F1s i took off were 200 and the toyo proxes T1s i had last year were 240, so which tyre would of had the lowest tread wear and therefore lasted longer in normal driving conditions, the lowest number or the highest? I always thought the lower the number the softer the compound, the greater the grip and the tyres would wear out quicker, now i'm not so sure as i read a thing about some tyre, which was supposed to be a performance tyre (although i never even heard the brand name before) and they had a tread wear rating of 400!!
