Type-R tranny problems
ok heres the deal. when i first got the type r tranny it needed a new 3-4 synchro so we installed it and since i have had no grinding problems at all, it shifts real smooth. however when re-installing the shifter/shift fork adapter (part # 4 in the diagram) one of the bolts stripped out the threads in the casing. i didnt want to put it in and risk the bolt ciming out so i just put in the other 2 and locktighted them (i know
)
well 1 of the bolts came out and actually came comletely loose and thank god it stuck to the tranny magnet. the other one was in there but the adapter could move around not letting you get it inpast the middle gears. i reordered all new bolts and even a new magnet but my question is what to do with the holes... should i drill them all out and re thread them to the next size up (part # 12 and 18 6x22.5 and 6x16 bolts) or should i just drill them out and put helicoils in them. i want to redo all 3 holes cause next time that magnet might not get to the bolt in time
also what else should i replace while i have the tranny off? i cant think of anything (act clutch is fine and i dont have the $ to replace the stock fw)

You could replace the housing itself, and not have any problems unless you overtighten the bolts again. I happen to have 2 spares if you're interested.
well i would either retap the hole to a larger size or get a "new" housing for the tranny. i wouldn't trust helicoil.
as for what to do since the tranny will be opne, i really can't think of anything else.

removed it to take the forks out. maybe i didnt have to but o well.. as far as not trusting helicoils i use them on aerospace work all the time and the hold well...
if i re-drill it to the next size up ill have to drill the bracket too
im assuming a new clutch housing would be a couple hundred right?
i also ordered new axle seals btw

Did you put some "locktite" the blue one... not the red.
and just do a oversize one the hole that the bolt is stripped...
you will be sure that the 3 bolt with not loose with a little bit of locktite... and I repeat.. no red locktite..

red loctite is the kind thats meant for it to never come out again isnt it... i used blue before which is supposed to not be permanant
