ls/vtec rods
i found a set of type r pistons with a ceramic top coat i was gonna get them and the guy said that crower didnt make a rod for the type r pistons so could i use a stock type r rod or do i need to get ls rods and will the ls rods work on a type r piston another ? if i get a vtec piston do i need to run a vtec rod if you could just give me some tech on the bottom end it would help out alot i got a 1994 gsr head and a 1991 ls bottom and will earls fittings work for the external oil line and if so do you have part#'s thanx
With the LS crank you have to run the LS rod, VTEC rods are too long. You can use the LS rod with a GSR/Type-R/CTR piston, you just have to machine the small end of the rod to accept the pistons. The rod is too fat to fit without machining. I ran LS rods in my LS/VTEC with CTR pistons and this setup worked fine. I would recommend upgrading to ARP rod bolts.
i already puchased arp rods for the ls rods is this part # correct arp-208-6401 they are 9mm bolts and im looking for some crower rods and another question will ls crower rods work with the type r pistons and is grinding the top of the rods something i can do or do i need to let a machine shop do it
what is the engine bore size on the b18a and when pistons bore size do i need to get and will the earsl fittings work for the external oil like i got work from someone that z10 is where i needed to get the fittings thanx for all the help fellas

Thanks
175 whp at Import Builders on ITR pistons. Never dynoed with the CTR's. No 1/4 mile times either. I just built the motor to run when my GSR block was out; it's my daily driver, so it can't be down.
