When your wheels spin, you're losing traction. Remember that!

The LSD's main purpose is to prevent wheel spin by transfering the right amount of power to BOTH wheels. Thus it is called "limited".

When you have a regular differential, the differential will transfer the torque to the wheel with the least resistance. That's why that wheel has a tendency to slip, and cause traction loss, which is what you DON'T want in a race, or anytime for all it really matters.

So if you're not getting wheel spin like you were before, you can't blame that on the LSD. If your LSD was broken, you would more than likely not even be able to drive the car.

If wheelspin is what you LIKE, then I would suggest a different clutch or some shitty tires.

yea but the thing is that when i first put the tranny in it would have wheel spin...and both would sping...but i`m saying that it doesnt do it anymore....so i am wondering if it is the clutch or the LDS itself.....pretty much what i am asking is that would a worn out LSD unit have the same symtoms as of a worn out clutch ?? thanks again

Have a friend watch your tires when you do a small burnout..

Pull the E-brake, and let them rip for a couple seconds..

I bet it's still working

What would his friend be looking for?

Well, you'll still be able to make the wheels burn out, if you did the e-brake thing, but in this case both should be spinning and not just one, since the LSD would in sense, be working.

I personally think your clutch could be going out if anything, before a gear type ITR LSD would go bad. It's rare to break an ITR LSD if you haven't lifted a front wheel while racing.

while back I cracked my LSD (in my B16A tranny), same torsen type of LSD as ITR.

basically the car becomes undriveable as the axles no longer get power transferred to them. the mainshaft, countershaft all spins with the ring gear but the diff doesn't distribute the power.
it feels like really badly slipping clutch(rpm rises but the car barely moves) in my case I just made it home (lots of downhill and coasting helped me)
(8k rpm in 2nd, while going only less then 25km/h)

you are most likly not getting any wheel spin as there isn;t enough power to brake the tires loose. LSD will not bias the power if one wheel has more then enough traction (at least not all of them)
