Twisted or warped crank what would cause this
My engine spun the main bearings. I took it apart every thing is twisted .008 thats a huge amount. it never over heated or even got hot at all. Its like the sleeves mains and deck are off .008. the engine seems as if you put it in a vise and twisted it
I work at a tool and die shop i used our inspection equipment. Basicly i used a surface block and worked off it. The sleeves and mains seem to be what has shifted around. The deck around the water jackets seem to be fine.
wtf is twist? it's cool that you work at a tool and die shop, but you can't measure twist of a crankshaft. where did you even get the idea to measure twist? that's not a typical feature to measure. do you mean straightness?
So the bores are not round nor are they perpendicular to the crankshaft mains? Is your crank bent? Is that what you mean by twisted?
this thread is killing me.
what datum did you use when you measured the block? the deck?
please explain your measurement method and exactly what surfaces and locations you measured.

i just got back to this. I can take a the crank put between centers the thing is off .008 from one journal to another. also i placed the block on a surface plate middle main is .008 higher than the outer mains. the funny part was the timing belt would walk off the cam pulley
I got the new engine in and its running good
