Tunner responsability?!?
about 6 weeks ago (almost 7 now) i took my car to be tunned.
stock d16, greddy turbo kit, aem ems.. Tunner took it for a spin and threw a rod breaking the block and oil pan while testing a base map.
I got an other d16 motor (which "I" paid for), provided rods/pistons and paid for 'all' necesary part to build up (oil, water pump, rings, bering, etc)
took 4 weeks to build the long block!! once it was done, there were massive vacume leaks usign a 99 EX manifold, also the car was started and ran for a few minutes without ANY oil (yeah , someone forgot to put oil on the new built block)
Teh only fix they came to fix the vacuem leak was to replace the Y8 manifold for the stock Z6 one. Just replacing the manifold took 2 more weeks!
Once the manifold was replaced and there were no vacume leaks, heavy smoke keep showing up, earlier thought were that the heavy smoke was produced by super reach mixture. The motor used a quart of oil in the first and only 60 miles. Seeign that the smoke was gettign worse even after leaning the mixture he suggested that the turbo was 'shot' due to the previous engine failure and oil was probably leaking from the turbo into the exaust.
Now it seesm i have to either PAY to rebuild my turbo or get an other one cuz it wasnt hes fault that the motor and turbo failed while he attempted tunnign it.
There is a lot more to this and i might do a detailed write up once its all done, i just needed to write it out and leave in the open, i feel angry and frustrated at this point..
This supposed to be a reputable builder and tunner over here, what a dissapointment...

I would definately take the car to a different shop. Doesn't really sound like they know what they are doing. If they just plugged in the EMS and took it for a spin on the base map big problem. The base map can get you started and running and is a pretty decent map, but I would never run it on a car without proper tuning. And it doesn't sound like a turbo sounds like the motor is shot again. Warm up the car and do a leakdown and compression test to see if it is the turbo or the motor.
