Default tuning a p06 into a vtec?

ok how is it possible to turn a p06 obd1 into a vtec ecu? can i just be done with chrom or do parts have to be changed in the ecu? thanks the reason i ask is casue i have a p06 that was a vtec ecu tuned with crome and now i got it tuned with hondata and i can;t get the vtec anymore
