Default TSX i-VTEC into RSX

Has anyone dropped a 200-hp i-VTEC™ engine from a TSX with a 5-speed Sequential SportShift™ into a RSX?

Would this be direct drop-in?

I'm sure it would work but you'll have a few things to deal with... First off the TSX K24 motor isn't going to be anything really special... If I were you and you have an RSX (K20A), keep that cylinder head, build a high compression K24 block, and you'll be a lot better off... Yea the TSX motor has 24 more ft/lbs. of torque with 400cc's more of displacement but there is no gain horsepower wise and there surely won't be any later without cams/headwork... Besides dropping in, I would probably just stick with the RSX tranny as it's going to be a lot easier... Things to watch out for (since I haven't done a K24 into RSX swap yet)... The K24's deck height is 19.7mm's taller than that of the K20 which means your cylinder head is going to be 0.776" closer to your hood... Hopefully it won't tap but I would definately check first... Good Luck, and if you do happen to get it in be sure to get pics up... Latez

one thing to remember is that the tsx has throttle by wire, the rsx is not. This will be a problem to overcome in the swap.

ANOTHER great reason to build a K24 block and keep the stock PRB cylinder head, then go with ITB's (NA setup) or a PRC IN manifold... Sorry, I'm just rambling now

if your building up a nice fast car for the street, work with what you have, the rsx's are not slow, by ANY standards.

if your out to brake the 10 second record, your doing it in the wrong car.

nuff said.

Thanks for the replies. I need a hatchback for practical reasons but would like a faster car also - unfortunately RSX with Vtec does not come with sequential spot shift. I cannot drive a stick shift due to physical limitations. I guess I should look elsewhere to replace the Teg LS.

well thats a special case then, either go for a high quality automatic or get those steering wheel pedal shifters
