Default Trying to get more power.

I have a 97 Honda DX and I'm trying to get that little extra pep in it to get better performance. Some people say air intake others say exhaust. One person said theres turbo kits you can get for better performance. Please keep in mind I'm married and dont have $1000's of dollers to drop in my car. Is there any tweeks or something I could do without hurting my car to help me out? Thanks

Of course it takes some money to make any 'real' power, the intake and exhaust are the most popular and least expensive. They don't have to be big name units, as long as they're made well. You might also want to adjust your ignition timing a bit. The 'D' engines love timing, the more, the better. Advance the timing in 2 degree intervals and test drive each time. If you start to hear detonation, stop and retard it back to the last setting.
