Default trunk mod

I dont know if this is the right area to post this since i am kinda new here but a mod can move it if it isnt. A friend of mine was telling me about a trunk mod that he had seen for a civic where unstead of the trunk flipping up like it normally does it just raises straight up and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about this.

It involves using hinges (bought from your local hardware store) between the trunk lid and the arms that support it. I heard it tends to rattle. If you really want to do it, you can, it's not hard to figure out.

Uhhhhhh.....first let me say that this forum is called 'Honda-TECH', is this a TECHnical question? Topics here are suppose to be for performance oriented mods to our cars, is this a performance mod because it sure does not sound like it? And regardless, why would you even want to know if this is possible, were you actually thinking of waisting your time and money just to allow your trunk to open up in a slightly different way? WTF man, spend your money and time on worthwhile mods, but if it this kind of thing suits you then you are probably just a ricer anyways(if you even know what that is). Ahh, I hate to flame and rant like this, its just that this is sooo stupid that I had to ask or comment on this insanity. Who knows, hopefully this was just a joke, if so then hey atleast I upped my post count by one worthless number, enjoy

well if you must know since you seem to be the almighty herself. I am making a show car not a drag racer. I want it done because i think it looks nice and seeing as it is my car that i paind 10 grand for i can do what I want to it and if i think it looks nice i will do it. When you pay a few of my payments then you are more than welcome to tell me what is a worthless mod.

If you are making a show car, you would get a much warmer welcome in the Appereance forum......Honda-Tech is filled with a majority of Go over show people.

Myself included.

While I don't own a show car, and am not into the "show scene," I think that there are two distinct varieties of "Honda" people. Those who show and those who perer go. I just think it was a little harsh. There needs to be some sort of disclaimer or something saying that his is not the place to ask about how to make your front end tilt forward, not a place to ask about "Altezza" tallights, but rather the place to ask about go-fast mods, not APC/Pep Boys add ons. I think it would save some people (myself included) some time and effort responding to these questions (not to mention a savings in bandwidth).

There are are plenty of other Honda sites for show cars. I think it would be nice to have a sticky or something that states that. Just my two cents.
