is it true that when you do the timing on an ls/vtec your not supposed to put it on tdc? i heard rumors that its supposed to be different idk

not sure and haven't heard of this rumor, but there's a way to find out...
You can put this to the test by removing the spark plug from cylinder #1 and placing a long skinny foot long rod down through the spark plug hole till it hits and rests on the top of the cylinder; manually crank the engine while watching the rod move up till you reach TDC; Now if the crank pulley's white TDC marking lines up with the TDC marker on the timing belt cover and the rod is at its highest point, then all is good in TDC land.
If not, then the rumor is true.
