Trouble codes not showing up,what am I doing wrong?

Trouble codes not showing up,what am I doing wrong?
I tried odtaining my trouble codes by jumping the 2 pin "blue" connector above the computer ,,on my 98' ob2 gsr {b18c1}.I turned the key to the on position and the check engine light doesn't even flicker.The only thing that blinks is the "SRS" and it does 8 long blinks and 1 short.What am i doing wrong?
