Default transmission swapping?

I have a 92 SOCH V-Tec motor in my in my Civic hatch. The transmission is completely burned. I have a spare DX motor w/ a CX transmission on it. I know it will bolt right up, but I want to know if the gearing difference is going ot be big enough to ruin the motor. I also called the big Honda dealer in town (Renton, WA), and 3 different service guys told me it wouldn't harm the motor at all. I just wanted to get some other opinions before I do this swap.

won't hurt the motor, but you won't get any where in a hurry.

I'm just the S20 GOD.

thats what i don't really like about it.....losing the torque. i have a ACT 6 puck clutch to gain something, but i'm thinking of not using it so i don't accidentally ruin the CX tranny. thanks for your reply.

You won't be losing torque or horsepower, you'll be loosing accelaration due to the longer gears in the CX tranny.

1. It's VTEC not V-Tec

2. Your shift linkage will not match up

3. The gear difference will be noticeable, but it will be driveable

4. Having a puck in your car is not the greatest. they are for race only, not streetability. The puck "shocks" your tranny. The disc type clutch has springs in it to absorb the TQ that is being put into your tranny and apply it a little more gently. the puck is for direct on power transfer...very hard on your tranny, but it gets all your power there at once.

My friend has 95 single cam VTEC in his hatch with an ACT 6-puck heavy duty clutch and is running a 92 VX tranny cuz the rear motor mount bracket holes on the Si tranny had gotten stripped and i still have to replace the shifting fork. It drives fine except the gear ratios suck. Second gear maxes out at 82mph and we don't even want to try the third but it's probably around 135ish. Have fun!!!!

Dude, put down the crack pipe and put your lips on a exhaust pipe!

All S20 trannys will swap out and the linkage is the same.
